I’ve sure you’ve turned on talk radio and heard several men whom I’m
generalizing here. They are 100% Republican (or "independant"
Conservative) and demand you be if you are a ‘respectable’
person. They saying nothing about actually going to local
conventions, joining the party, doing political work, just to support
Bush 100% and vote Republican no matter what.
Radio ads? Nope, these masquerade as talk shows, though all they
amount to be are hours of propaganda. (with LARGE commercial
breaks) They do nothing really except spew hatred and
divisiveness. Overall, they seem to paint a picture that if you
are ‘right wing’, ‘christian’, and ‘conservative’ you are a worthy
person. If you are an accursed ‘liberal’ you are some LIBERTINE
(like DeSade) freak who’s communist, copulates with poodles and shoots
heroin into your eye.
Listening to them is pure nausea. Even IF they are right
(i.e. “leftist” thinkers are misguided, “right” thinkers are
good) does anyone really WANT to be like them or live in a country they
are in control of? Scarily, a huge number of Americans listen to
this crude propaganda. When people work during the day,
especially physical jobs or driving jobs, the radio is the sole source
of entertainment that the boss doesn’t supress. He might remove
the free coffee by ‘budget cuts’ while the CEO at least acquires a new
yacht and fills it with a mistress of every nationality, but he never
touches the radio. Choice guides the channel change. Most
‘popular’ music is nauseating to people who grew up in even the 80’s,
especially earlier. The “oldies” station has the same PAYLIST of
the same “top 100” bands every week, which gets boring after three
days. The only variety is to turn on the ‘talk radio’ where it is
dominated by right wing blowhards.
I won’t go over all the stuff they do here, just touch on their most
important point: “The Media is Liberally Biased”. By this,
they mean that every source of news (except theirs, of course) is
corrupted by “ultra PC leftist hippie freaks” and that they seek
nothing less than the ruin of this country and the perversion of our
children, oh think of the CHILDREN. What’s even more bitterly
funny is that they then accuse the ‘left’ of lying, quoting Goebbles “A
lie repeated often enough becomes the truth”. Who seems to be the
expert on Nazism?
I disagree thouroughly that the media is ‘liberally biased’.
There is plenty of “Political Correctness” but that is only due to the
“Corporate inlfuence”. Corporations exist to make MONEY, which is
the only responsibility they are held to. Things with an ‘edge’
tend to offend people here and there, reducing the overall
effectiveness of their mass market appeal. Therefore, things are
made blander to sell to more people.
Let’s then separate the assertion that the media biases towards a
‘leftist’ view. Newspapers, talk radio outlets, and especially TV
stations are owned by a handful of corporations. Increasingly,
the truth seems to be second to what works smoothly for making money
and the union-busting, labor exporting, war for profit administration
that works hand in hand with it. IMHO, what little true “Left”
that is in the mainstream media after decades of trying is being eroded
away.
Been listening to that talk radio and going to dismiss me as some kind
of ‘radical’?
Please read through this and ask these questions:
Just
look at how the news is handled---I think that proves my point well
If the media was really “Liberally
Biased” wouldn't they---?

George
Bush would be grilled for his “Lucky me, I hit the Trifecta!” joke the
was President Clinton was grilled for the “Wag the Dog” reference that
Rush Limbaugh said!
(Trifecta
link)
(second Trifecta

Check these out, the second one even has an AUDIO clip:-(

Bush’s
“Bring ‘em on!” remark would be played before each and every
announcement of a death in Iraq of a US Servicemember.
Thanks to "Take
back the Media" for this special. It would be nice if the
corporate media would PLAY ads like this, considering that donations to
PAY the advertising rates are raised.
"We just don't need the business" is their usual excuse.
|
See above.
|
Bush’s
announcement of the end of “major hostilities” in Iraq would also be
put in perspective with a counting date.
(Perhaps for variety)
|

|
Osama Bin
Laden would have a “Still at large for 600(adjusted) days in every
newspaper, along with quotes of Bush’s objective to catch and bring him
to justice.
|

|
When Bush
cut servicemen’s benefits, it would be headlines, not in the backs of
the newspapers.
|

|
Since they refuse to let
reporters photograph coffins of dead soldiers coming home, the
officials refusing the photographers would be in the headlines refusing
it.
|
What else, what else?
Lengthy articles would be printed on corporate espionage and embezzling
and how it hurts EVERYONE, while horrific ‘serial killer’/’kiddie
killer’ stories would only make local news. (Importance based on
SOCIAL IMPACT, yes I dare say this)
Protests (pro/anti war) would be put in perspective.
Last, but not least, the newspapers would be full of encouragement and
correspondance for helping people with community meetings, voting
drives, education about government, both national and local and also
fun facts such as “jury nullification” and it’s importance in our
system of government. In short, the ‘media’ would portray a
wonderful world that, not without problems, stood to become a real
utopia and that it was for each and everyone to contribute and to
share. Every time I check the news, I see portrayed a bitter,
decaying world where it only pays to be silent and afraid
Believe it or not, I'm not trying
neccesarily to make a "left" point here. These demagoges are
damaging, not because of their extreme views, but because they seem to
try to get people polarised over terms like "left" or "Right".
This ignores that our country is a republic, where it starts with
Democracy, but then lets small interests have their say so there is not
a 51% tyranny. When people don't participate in a republic (don't
vote, don't stay informed) absurdities, like a 21% tryanny can develop,
as they seem to have now.
